Ekris Motorsport tops Nürburgring opening practice

Ricardo van der Ende put the #8 Ekris Motorsport Ekris M4 on top in the opening practice at the Nürburgring this afternoon. The Dutchman’s fastest time of 2m06.254 was set early in the session.
The #25 MDM Motorsport BMW of championship contenders Alec Udell and Simon Knap was second quickest at just 0.139s. The time set by Udell was the exact same time as set by Dan McKay and Benjamin Lessennes in the #14 Equipe Verschuur McLaren - currently third in the Silver Cup standings. Silver cup leaders Max Koebolt and Jan Kisiel set the 11th fastest lap.
Gabriele Piana was the fastest Pro-Am driver on the 5.1 km Nürburgring Grand Prix circuit in fourth overall, with the #111 RN Vision STS BMW driver finishing the session 0.289s clear of Andy Meyrick in the #33 Bullitt Racing Mercedes. Pro-Am points leaders Luci Trefz and Marcus Paverud finished the opening practice in sixth place overall.
The #48 CMR Alpine of David Loger and Eric Mouez was the fastest car in the Am category, followed by the #99 razoon - more than racing KTM in second place and the #31 Selleslagh Racing Team Mercedes in third place.
Both the Alpine and the #25 MDM Motorsport BMW hit trouble towards the end of the session, with both cars having to be recovered to the paddock. The second practice session will get underway at 17.15 local time.
