Ekris Motorsport ready to take on GT4 European Series

25 March 2019

After a year with limited activities, Ekris returns again this year in the most competitive GT4 class, the GT4 European Series. As a regular contender in the series since the earliest days, Dutch team Ekris Motorsport will again be on the grid when the GT4 European Series gets its 2019 season underway at the Monza the second weekend of April.

The team will be running one Ekris M4 GT4 for the Dutch/Scots driver combination, series’ stalwart Ricardo van der Ende and newcomer Euan McKay, who acquired a lot of experience racing in different GT series in the past years.

“It goes without saying that the title is our goal for this year, even though we know that this is an ambitious one, given the strong level of competition,” team manager, Stian Boers says.

“With Ricardo and Euan, we have a driver pairing with a lot of potential and we have improved our Ekris M4 GT4 to make it an even more competitive package, so we are really confident for the upcoming season.”

The Ekris M4 GT4, developed by Ekris Motorsport, won its first Championship in the GT4 European Series in 2017. Based on the experience acquired in the car’s maiden seasons, improvements were made on the durability and performance.

Further the team worked on improvement of the handling of the car. Ekris Motorsport has chosen to partner up with Schubert Motorsport this year for technical support. Both companies have been associated with the BMW brand for years, on the circuit but also in the showroom with the sale of BMWs.

Also team owner, Dick van Ekris is very enthusiastic about the new collaboration: “Schubert is a respected name in motorsport and I am looking forward working together. First of all, our focus is to be well prepared for the opening round at Monza. Therefore we have planned some testing before the start of the season, we are really looking forward to go racing again."
